Students are Blüm are given trust and autonomy for greater independence within a community-oriented and deeply collaborative framework. This lends itself to the intentional design of the campus.
Located in the middle of the main floor of 19+2, Blüm Childcare Academy in West Hillhurst is proud to provide a fresh and modern early learning Academy. In our classrooms, everything has a purpose and a place, and this practice of clutter-free living is taught to all students.
Our tight-knit campus communities are ignited to engage our students to develop a clear sense of values and a social conscience on their path to becoming responsible global citizens. Blüm is proud to be hyper-local and encourages our students to be involved with helping others both in and outside of their classrooms. These are a few of our key community partners:
The West Hillhurst Community Association is a robust hub for the neighboring community and features ample green space, which is one of the many approved play spaces where Blüm students participate in daily outdoor programming.
This facility provides subsidized housing for Albertans who have retired and is located a few short blocks from the Tuxedo Park campus. We are delighted to have our students participate in different activations with Sharon Manor residents throughout the year.
Made by Momma is a grassroots non-profit organization and registered Canadian charity located in Calgary’s NW. They help families facing situations of adversity and crisis by providing healthy prepared meals, supportive in-home visits, and many other services. Through scheduled goods drives, Blüm is proud to provide vital baby essentials and children’s items for families accessing Made by Momma.

Blüm’s programming is a proprietary synthesis of internationally respected Montessori pedagogy and the inquiry-driven framework of Reggio Emilia—an approach that aligns closely with Alberta’s provincially recognized Early Learning and Care Framework. This integration ensures learning experiences are developmentally grounded, research-informed, and deeply responsive to the student.
Classrooms are intentionally free from screens and digital media, allowing students to engage fully with thoughtfully curated materials, quality literature, and hands-on learning experiences. Natural and open-ended materials—such as stones, wood, textiles, and loose parts—are regularly incorporated into play, visual arts, and creative exploration, supporting imagination, problem-solving, and expressive thinking.

My son has been at Blum Child Care Academy in Hillhurst since July 2025, and we are so grateful we made the switch. We were previously at another daycare for about a month while we waited to get into Blum. The previous place was perfectly fine — great facility, nice amenities — but the difference in the level of care at Bloom is truly night and day.
We initially decided to move because our friends’ children were at Blum, and we watched their little one (no pun intended) bloom during her time there. I was hesitant to move our son since he had already settled in at the other daycare, but I’m so glad we did. He has absolutely blossomed at Blum and has formed such a strong connection with the educators.
Walking into Blum genuinely feels like stepping into a spa — the calming music, the peaceful environment, and the intentional focus on supporting children’s nervous systems is something I’ve never seen anywhere else. It’s more like a school than a typical daycare, with a well-structured program. That might not be the right fit for every child, but for our son, it has been perfect. He thrives with the routine, loves the activities, and has even started eating more thanks to their nutritious meals.
We’ve also noticed how much more social he’s become; he’s connecting with other children in a way we hadn’t seen before. It’s been incredible to watch him grow and gain confidence.
We truly can’t recommend Blum enough. We’re so happy to be part of this community and so thankful for the care they provide every single day.
